Agentic deliverables, not chat assistants

Agents that produce finished work.
Not a chat box.

Everything shipping in mainstream CPM AI today is a helper — chat, search, summary, risk score. We're building agents that come back with a submittal compliance memo, a drafted RFI, a daily log, a closeout binder. Approve / Edit / Reject — the work is done.

The thesis

The unit of work for current CPM AI is the user's question.
The unit of work for ours is the deliverable.

Helper
Agent
Chat assistant ("how do I do X?")
Triggered by an event (submittal uploaded, daily reaches 5pm, change event posted).
Search with citations
Multi-step plan (extract → reason → take actions → verify → finalize).
Summarizer
Takes actions in external systems (writes records, sends emails, routes approvals).
Risk scorer
Comes back with a finished deliverable — Approve / Edit / Reject.

Available now

The two agents shipping today.

These two establish the wedge from day one. Both are the highest-ROI, highest-feasibility agents we identified across both ICPs.

Available now

Submittal compliance agent

The killer agent.

Trigger

Subcontractor uploads a submittal PDF.

Plan

Extract product data → match the CSI MasterFormat spec section → run clause-by-clause compliance check → flag exceptions with severity → draft a reviewer-ready memo with cited deviations → route to the A/E reviewer per the responsibility matrix → track resolution loop until stamped + filed.

Deliverable

A fully-formed compliance memo waiting for human review with a single Approve / Reject / Send-Back button.

Available now

Daily log auto-generation agent

The field UX wedge.

Trigger

End of work day on a project with mobile activity.

Plan

Aggregate photos + EXIF + GPS, T&M tickets, crew geofence check-ins, weather, schedule progress markers, RFI/submittal mentions → assemble into a structured daily log → highlight delays, deliveries, safety incidents, and notable progress.

Deliverable

A daily log drafted in the superintendent's name. Three taps to review, edit, and submit.

Coming soon

The next six, in order.

Ranked by ROI × feasibility. Each one ships as a discrete deliverable with a clear human approval surface — same Approve / Edit / Reject discipline as the agents shipping today.

Closeout binder assembly

Walks the CSI 01 78 00 spec section, gathers approved submittals, O&M manuals, warranty docs, attic stock receipts, training records, and assembles the binder + materializes asset registry in Sympl · CMMS.

Change order impact analysis

On change event creation, runs the cost + schedule + sub impact analysis against the GMP and the master schedule. Produces a federation-ready change order with cited impact lines.

Subcontractor pre-qualification

Drafts pre-qual packets from public records (DBE, insurance, OSHA history), past Sympl project performance, and bond capacity sources. Reviewer approves or sends back.

Bid leveling

Normalizes scope across raw sub bids, flags exclusions and alternates, produces a leveled comparison sheet with explicit assumption deltas.

RFI drafting (from photo + voice)

Superintendent records a voice note + photo on site. Agent drafts the RFI with the right spec section reference, responsibility-matrix recipient, and impact framing. PM reviews and sends.

Email-as-RFI auto-filing

Outlook add-in classifies incoming emails by content (RFI, submittal, transmittal, correspondence) and auto-files to the project with the right metadata. Newforma-style discipline, agent-driven.

What the incumbents ship

Honest read on the mainstream CPM AI landscape.

We respect the work. Some of it is genuinely useful. None of it crosses the helper-to-agent line at scale yet — which is where the leverage lives.

Procore Assist + Datagrid

Copilot Search (Q&A over RFIs, submittals, drawings, specs). Copilot Reporting Agent (editable reports from prompts). Document summarization.

Retrieval, not proactive. No agent watches drawings vs submittals to flag unbacked specs. No deep schedule reasoning.

Autodesk Construction IQ + Assistant

Construction IQ risk scoring on Issues / RFIs / Submittals (the most mature production ML in mainstream CPM). Assistant RAG with source citation.

Best-grounded retrieval in the category. Still flags, not finishes.

Trimble Unity AI + Document Crunch

Unity AI in Labs for Maintain / Permit. Document Crunch acquisition (closing Q2 2026) is the real signal — narrow, deep, contract / spec compliance.

Document Crunch flags issues; doesn't resolve them. The loop a more agentic competitor closes.

OpenSpace + Disperse + Buildots

Most mature production AI in construction (computer vision). Progress tracking, productivity, punch-list generation from 360 walks.

"AI-assisted progress tracking" — uniformly positioned with human-in-the-loop verification. No published independent benchmarks.

Platform discipline

AI you can turn off — or run with your own keys.

Same three-mode posture as Sympl · CMMS: off entirely, managed and constrained to your project data, or BYO Anthropic / OpenAI API key. Agent outputs are never auto-applied — human review before anything becomes an action.

Read the AI controls policy

Try the submittal agent on your projects.

We're working with GC and Owner design partners on real submittal logs to tune the compliance memo quality, the responsibility-matrix routing, and the deviation severity model.
